Annual Enrolment

This year’s Annual Enrolment will run between November 16 and November 30. You will enrol on the Manulife website. Once you’re on the site, select “Enrol/re-enrol" and follow the prompts.

Have your needs changed?

Your HP Canada Co. Annual Enrolment period is your opportunity to select the coverage you’ll need from January 1 until December 31, 2023. To help you get started, check out the Getting the most from your benefits page for tips on selecting coverage that’s right for you and your family. Use the Annual Enrolment checklist to be sure you don’t miss a step.

You should also think about…

There are a number of things to think about as you enrol, including:

Check out last year’s claims

It’s a great way to see if the choices you made last year are right for you. Go to the Manulife website, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on “Search my claims”. Alternatively, you can select “Claims” from the top menu bar. Look for “Claims history” at the bottom left. You can do a search or see a summary under “Health claims” or “Your HCSA”.

Do you anticipate a similar amount of claims in 2023 or have things changed? Were the flex dollars you spent on the option you chose, plus any out-of-pocket expenses, more or less than what you were reimbursed? Are your flex decisions more about having the financial security of knowing you’re covered rather than whether you’re spending more or less than your total dollars from the plan? These are questions you need to ask yourself as you’re making your benefit decisions.

Co-ordinate benefits with your spouse

If your spouse has coverage under an employer plan, you can submit your claims to both plans for 100% reimbursement. This means you may want to waive coverage or choose a less comprehensive option which will leave you more flex dollars for your HCSA. You can learn more here.

Check your beneficiary and dependent information

Be sure you take a moment to review your beneficiary designations on file.  To make a change, select "Forms > Change of Beneficiary" and follow the steps indicated.

Review and confirm that your dependents are up to date too. You may be asked to provide proof to confirm your dependents’ eligibility, so have the appropriate supporting documentation available (e.g., marriage or birth certificates, tuition receipts, utility bills, etc.) in case you are asked.

Keeping our plans affordable

Each year, your benefits team has to negotiate pricing with our insurer. The prices we pay are based on a number of things, including how we use the plan. Remember, your HP Canada Co. benefits program is there to support your and your family’s physical and emotional wellness. It also provides financial security for you and your family if you are disabled or in the event of your death.

To keep our plans affordable, we need to use them wisely and responsibly. You’ll find hints on how to keep your own costs and those of the plan down here.

Annual enrolment is important

By reviewing your coverage each year and making the right choices, you’re protecting yourself and your family from financial hardship. It’s your responsibility. Only you know what you need. Choosing wisely ensures that you don’t pay for coverage you won’t use and that you and your family have the coverage you need when you need it.
